J. Liu Worthington
AEC provided M/E/P engineering design services for the new colonial-style restaurant in Worthington, OH. The two-story, 19,500 square foot restaurant and bar includes a commercial kitchen, dining area, ball room / banquet facility, meeting rooms and ADA-compliant restroom facilities.

Cincinnati Art Museum Renovation
AEC was part of a design team that was retained by the Cincinnati Art Museum to prepare construction documents and provide construction administration services for the renovation of its historic Art Academy Building. This marks the first stage in the implementation of the Art Museum’s multi-year renovation and expansion plans. Currently the more than 180 Art Museum staff members work in spaces spread throughout the building. Their relocation will open these vacated areas for additional education and gallery renovation. Through this renewal the Art Museum plans to gain an additional 15,000 square feet of exhibition space to be utilized as part of the drive to enhance the accessibility of its collections and activities. Renovation includes restoration of the existing two-story stone façade, demolition & reconstruction of the building interior, structural frame, foundations, and design of a new third floor. The project included integration of historic building architecture with new to provide contemporary spaces that support the museum’s staff. Amenities provide new space for the Director, Curators, Library, Archives, Human Resources, Development, and Finance. The new third floor provides public access to the library and gathering space for events. AEC was responsible for preparation of construction documents for upgrades to the historic structure’s HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems. The building achieved LEED Gold certification through the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

East Bank II Condominiums
AEC was retained to provide mechanical, electrical, fire protection and plumbing engineering design services for this 84,500 square foot, four-story condominium building including lower lever parking garage. The new $8M building includes 28 condo units which vary from 1,290 to 3,199 square feet in size. The building also features a sub-basement parking garage.

Firestone Auto Service Shops
AEC was part of a Design/Build team to prepare construction documents and construction administration for six new Firestone Compete Auto Care stores in Grove City and Columbus, Ohio as well as Joliet, Montgomery, Oswego, and Road Lake Beach City in Illinois. AEC was responsible for providing engineering services for the new buildings’ plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, and electrical systems. The new 6,700 square foot, single-story prototypical buildings include vehicle service areas, a customer showroom, an office, a break room, restrooms, a cleaning area and an inventory room. Electrical work included normal power services, power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems. Mechanical and Plumbing design work included HVAC, fire protection, plumbing, temperature control, compressed air systems, an emerge eye wash station, and an exterior oil/sediment interceptor. The new stores also include 10, environmentally-friendly, in-ground Smartlift® vehicle lift stations. AEC provided electrical and mechanical engineering services for the lifts’ electrical, air / oil supply, and control systems.
View on Pavey Square Development
The View on Pavey Square is a new construction mixed use residential and retail development consisting of two and five story wood-framed buildings over a podium and underground parking facility that is being built on N. High Street in Columbus Ohio. AEC was retained to provide electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection designs for the new development. This project is currently in the design phase and plans are being finalized with the City of Columbus. Construction is expected to begin in Spring of 2017. Delta Faucet Headquarters Addition
AEC-Indiana was retained to provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, technology and fire protection engineering design services for a 80,000 SQ FT, four-story addition to the Delta Faucet Headquarters. The addition features office space, meeting rooms, conference rooms, training rooms, areas for testing and research/development of projects, as well as a café and kitchen. Constructin on the project finished in February 2017.

Icon at City Walk Norfolk, VA
AEC Virginia Beach is involved in the extensive renovation of the old Bank of America office located at One Commercial Place in downtown Norfolk, VA. This project is converting an existing multi story office building into a mixed-used building with close to 300 high-end apartments and fitness, entertainment, business, retail, restaurant and leasing office space. The 24-story, 340,000 SF building is over 50 years old and an application was made and ͚conditional͛approval granted for this building to meet the rigorous requirements of an historic renovation and qualifies for the incentive programs offered by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources. This required a complete assessment of the existing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression systems while retaining critical historically significant features of this landmark building originally designed by SSOM. AEC was retained to perform the assessment and provide recommendations for new systems, engineering designs for MEPT, and a new fire suppression system. When completed in December 2017, the overall design for the new building will preserve much of the historic façade, features and finishes.

Shops on Tremont
AEC provided M/E/P engineering design services for the new residential building and retail center. The new center consists of 10,000 square feet of retail shops including Starbucks, Robecks Smoothies, a fitness center, spa and hair salon. Above the retail stores on the second and third floor are six rental townhomes. AEC was responsible for providing HVAC, plumbing, electrical power services, data/telecommunications, site and interior lighting and fire protection services.
Fairfield Inn at Port Columbus International Airport
AEC was part of a design team that was selected to prepare construction documents for a new Fairfield Inn & Suites at Port Columbus International Airport. The new four-story, 66,148 sq. ft., 121-room hotel is located just outside of the airport͛s terminal building. The new hotels' transition to a Gen4 hotel for the Marriott brand features amenities that are highly attractive to airport travelers, including an expanded indoor pool, an updated fitness center and a 34-seat cocktail lounge with full-service bar and outdoor patio area. AEC was responsible for providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and technology engineering design services for this new hotel. Construction cost was approximately $12.2M.
